Dick lived in Elsmere in the same house his whole life. He was a plumber by trade and a member of the Local 74 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union. His real passions were cooking and gardening. He had a large vegetable garden every summer of plants he would start from seed. Later in life he cooked for retired priests at Vianney House in St. John the Beloved Parish.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents and two older brothers, Howard and Bill. He is survived by two brothers, Marvin (Sylvia) of Middletown and Walter (Joan) of Ephraim, Wisconsin. Also a special cousin, Bob (Dolores) Haymen of Union Bridge, Maryland.

Dick was known for his frugality but his two favorite charities were St. Jude Hospital and Catholic Charities of Wilmington.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend the Service at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 3 at 11 am. Friends may call at the Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy from 10-11 am. Burial will follow the Service at Silverbrook Cemetery.
