Passed away on September 23rd, 2017 at Seasons Hospice in Christiana, DE after a brief illness.
Elmer was born in Freeland, PA on November 5th, 1927 son of George and Mary Rock. He married Lucy Baroski in 1951. Elmer was very proud to serve his country first joining the Merchant Marines in 1944 followed by the Army of the United States, stationed in Japan at the end of 1945. He later served in the U.S. Coast Guard stationed in Battery Park, Lower Manhattan. Elmer worked for the US Postal Service and retired in 1982.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 64 years, Lucy Rock and daughter Cynthia M. Rock. Elmer is survived by daughters, Rebecca Fortin and Mary Lou Cunningham; grandchildren, Jacqueline C. and Daniel R. Cunningham; and his brother, Thomas Rock.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Catherine of Siena R.C. Church, 2503 Centerville Rd., Wilm., DE on Saturday, Sept 30 at 11:00. Friends may call at the church from 10:00-11:00 am. The burial will take place at the Delaware Veterans Cemetery on Wednesday, October 4 at 1:00 pm.
