Alice E. (Chase) Jacobs
Age 96 of New Castle
Passed away peacefully at home on February 5, 2024.
Born September 7, 1927 to the late Lucien C. and Mary (King) Chase, Alice was a proud lifelong resident of Historic New Castle and member of Immanuel on the Green Episcopal Church. Alice was honored to be the oldest member of the church and treasured the history she shared with the community.
Alice enjoyed travelling to historic places in the South and throughout New England. She liked the beach and was especially fond of Wildwood, New Jersey. Alice had a talent for sewing and her favorite pastime was shopping at John Wanamaker’s and Boscov’s and ordering many items from catalogs.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jake, of 47 years, and her sisters and their husbands, Eugenia “Boots” Pollard (Francis) and Josephine “Josie” Davison (Hank).
Alice will be dearly missed by her three nieces, Mary Jo Davison, Alice Pollard Roth (Howard), and Christine Pollard; her nephew, John E. Davison (Dale); her great nieces, Katie Davison Murphy and Jackie Davison Zhou; and her great great nieces, Scarlett Murphy, Leah Zhou, and Addy Zhou.
Alice was thankful for the compassion and help her caregivers provided over the years. The family would like to thank Amoy Luthwan, Gerri Williams, and Koni Swaray.
She was also blessed with many friends and family; including Mary Jo Davison and Ziggy, Donna Mann, Kim Wipf, Kim and Dennis Keenan, and Barbara and Michael Alfree that were always there to lend a helping hand.
Funeral Mass will take place at Immanuel on the Green, 50 N. Market St., New Castle, DE 19720, on Thursday, February 15 at 11:00 am. Burial will take place at Glebe Cemetery immediately following.
