Obituary for Allison Marie "Ally" Reynolds

Allison Marie Reynolds

Age 39, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, January 13, 2024, after a 5-year battle with cancer.

Ally was born in Dover, Delaware. In her early childhood she lived in Nebraska, Virginia, and Utah while her father served in the United States Air Force. The family moved back to Dover while Ally was in high school, and she graduated from Caesar Rodney High School in 2002. She attended and graduated from the University of Delaware with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education in 2006. She spent many years of her teaching career at East Side Charter School in Wilmington before moving to New York where she was the Literacy Specialist at Rosalyn Yalow Charter in the Bronx. After returning to Delaware, she taught in the AVA program at Las Americas ASPIRA Academy. While teaching full time, Ally also furthered her own education at the University of Scranton, obtaining a Master’s of Science in Curriculum and Instruction in 2016.

Her greatest talent and passion was educating young children. Ally was an avid reader, and her love for reading carried over to teaching and inspiring children to learn to read. No one could narrate a book out loud more enthusiastically and entertaining than Ally could. She loved the beach, was a competitive board and card game player, and enjoyed listening to all types of music to which she often sang along. She loved all things Disney and was an avid Eagles and Phillies fan. Ally was colorful, sparkly, sassy, and she never missed an opportunity to socialize and spend time with those she loved.

Ally was preceded in death by her grandparents, William and Isabel DeCoudres, and Laurence and Mary Reynolds. She is survived by her parents, Terry and Susan (DeCoudres) Reynolds; her sister, Michelle Reynolds; and a multitude of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19805 on Saturday, January 20, at 12 noon. A visitation will take place at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 10:00-11:30. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, please consider bringing a children’s book to the celebration. The books collected will be donated in Ally’s memory to local school libraries, or you may donate a book in her memory to a school library near you.
