Andrew (Bucky) Stephen Nowell
(May 30, 1948 - March 8, 2021)
On Monday March 8, 2021, Bucky Nowell, loving husband and father of two children passed away suddenly in his home at the age of 72. Bucky was born on May 30, 1948 in Wilmington, DE to Andrew and Mary (Hare) Nowell. On September 12,1970 Bucky married Sandra Lee Thomas and they raised two children, Tara and Jeffrey. Bucky graduated from Conrad High School in 1966, and then worked as an upstanding member of UA Plumbers’ and Pipefitters Local 74 (Wilmington, DE) for over 40 years. Bucky retired in 2010 and dedicated the rest of his life to caring for his wife and spoiling his four grandchildren.
Bucky spent the majority of his career working at numerous construction sites throughout the region. During the last ten years of his career Bucky served as the training director for Local 74’s apprenticeship program. Bucky was instrumental in creating the modern training program and facility that serves Local 74 to this day. Bucky enjoyed cooking and golf, but more than anything, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Gilbert Nowell & Mary F. Nowell
Bucky will be dearly missed by his wife, Sandra Lee Nowell; daughter, Tara Neylon, and her husband, Mike Neylon; son, Jeffrey Nowell and his wife, Jessica Nowell; and grandchildren, Abigail, Andrew, Sadie and Sophia. He is also survived by his brother, Alex (Butch) Nowell and his wife, Lois Nowell, as well as numerous cousins, nephews, nieces and other extended family.
Relatives and friends may call at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Wilm., DE 19805, on Friday, Mar 12 from 11:30am-1:30pm. Due to COVID 19 restriction the celebration of life service will be held privately. Interment will take place in Silverbrook Cemetery.
