Obituary for Andrew "Andy" Seaman

Andrew "Andy" Seaman, (89) of Elsmere, Delaware passed away on December 10, 2021, at Season's Hospice in Wilmington after facing a long period of illness with uncommon strength and courage. Born in New Castle to Joseph and Bertha Miller Seaman, Andy loved growing up near the river with his many brothers and sisters. Andy served in the US Army as a radar operator before marrying his beautiful wife Janice in 1961. A skilled electronic technician who also possessed wonderful interpersonal skills, Andy worked for the State of Delaware/Delaware Turnpike as a maintenance mechanic, technician trainer, and popular toll-taker.

Andy enjoyed all kinds of music and was a terrific singer and dancer. He played centerfield with his Dobbinsville team and travelled by car with Janice all over the U.S. An avid horseracing fan, Andy loved going to the track to pick winners with his friends. He enjoyed making and meeting with friends over breakfast at Panera or grabbing a sub from his friends at Casapulla's (the original!). Andy had great friends.

Andy was preceded in death by his beloved wife Janice Fisher Seaman and his 10 siblings. He is survived by 6 nieces and nephews: Pamela Hutchcraft Finlayson of New Hampshire, Martha Hutchcraft Gonzalez of California, and A. Stephens Hutchcraft III of California (children of his sister, Mary), and David E. Madison, Mark A. Madison, and Jeffrey J. Madison of Ohio (children of his brother, Eugene).

Relatives and friends are welcome to gather in loving remembrance at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 101 West 6th Street, New Castle on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at 10am-10:30am. Interment will follow at Glebe Cemetery, New Castle. In lieu of flowers consider donating to K9s for Warriors, or a charity of your choice.
