Ann Margaret Scott, age 83, of New Castle, DE, passed away on December 30, 2023, surrounded by family. She was the wife of the late John Thomas (Tommy) Scott with whom she shared 49 years of marriage. Born in Ashland, PA, she was the daughter of the late James and Helen Scully Sheridan. Ann graduated in 1958 from PS DuPont High School, Wilmington, DE. After high school, Ann worked at Delaware Trust Bank briefly before starting a family. Ann returned to work for the United States Probation and Pretrial Office, District of Delaware, and retired Secretary to the Chief Probation Officer after 35 years of service. She enjoyed game shows, visits to Delaware Park, vacations to the Poconos and Lewes, DE with the family every year, and especially spending time with her grandchildren. In the 1980s and 1990s, she and Tommy travelled to Nashville for Fan Fair on many bus trips as they shared a love of country music.

In addition to her husband, Tommy, Ann was preceded in death by daughter in law, Kelly Scott, and brother and sister-in-law Thomas and Georgia Sheridan of Myrtle Beach, SC. She is survived by two sons, Michael T. Scott and his wife Yuri of Wake Forest, NC and Kevin J. Scott of New Castle, DE; one daughter, Noreen A. Scott-Garrity and her husband Bruce of Penns Grove, NJ, grandchildren, Sean, Moira, Kieran, Andrew and Patricia, great grandchildren Conor, Grace, and Laia, and sister and brother in-law Jane (Retta) and Peter Feeney of Lewes, DE.


Relatives and friends are invited to attend the service at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 101 W 6th Street, New Castle, DE 19720 on Monday, January 8 at 11 am. Friends may call from 10 am to 11 am. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Dementia Society of America.
