Obituary for Anna Doris Murphy (Bacon)
Anna Doris Murphy passed away peacefully at the age of 94 on February 9, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. Doris was born in Wilmington, DE to the late Harry J. Bacon Sr. and Nora Ellen Bacon. Doris worked over 30 years as a bookkeeper at Mammele’s Paint Store on Market Street in Wilmington. After retiring she enjoyed traveling with family and friends. She also enjoyed family game nights and sharing special times with the extended family.
In addition to her parents Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas J. Murphy Sr; her sister, Judith Mahoney; and brothers, Harry and Daniel Bacon.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Thomas (Mel), Patrick (Linda), Ann and Mark. She will also be dearly missed by her grandchildren, Noel Kennedy (Scott), Amanda Pyle (Mike), Jason Emerson, Colleen Bailey (Chris), Danielle Sacci (Robert), Michael (Olivia), Joseph (Karrie), Joshua (Katie), Timothy, John, Ian and Katie; 5 great-grandchildren, Toni, Asher, Ezra, June and Levi. Doris is survived by her sister-in-law, Mary Bacon, and many nieces and nephews who were all very special to her.
We would like to thank her care companion, Mimi Watterson who visited, cared for and supported our mother and family for more than a year.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mass of Christian Burial at St. Matthew R.C. Church at 901 East Newport Pike, Wilmington, DE on Tuesday, February 16 at 12:30. Viewing to proceed service from 11:00 - 12:30 also at St. Matthew Church. Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family asks contributions to be made in Doris’ name to Corpus Christi R.C. Church, 903 New Road, Wilmington, DE. 19805.
