Obituary for Anne E. Craighton (Calhoun)

Anne Elizabeth Craighton, nee Calhoun, age 88, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on June 8, 2021. Anne was born on December 15, 1932 in Wilmington, Delaware. She attended St. Patrick’s Grade School and St. Elizabeth High School. Anne married Leroy (Boe) Craighton, a Michigan native, on November 28, 1953 and started a life in New Castle, Delaware.
She worked at DuPont Experimental Station before she and Boe began their family. She was a devout Catholic, and her faith was evident to all who knew her. When her children were older, she became a first grade-teaching assistant at St. Peter Elementary School. Her working career ended with her working in the cafeteria at William Penn High School and Wilmington Manor schools. Anne’s husband of 67 years, her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were the cornerstone of her life. She was beloved as Mom Mom by many.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and May Calhoun; brothers, Joseph and Francis Calhoun; sisters, Mary Calhoun and Catherine Garst. She is survived by her beloved husband, Boe, who took excellent care of her; her five children, Karen, Bob (Robyn), Tom (Nancy), Dennis (Colleen) and Jack (Michelle). She had nine beautiful grandchildren, Damien, Sue, Dustin, Meghan, Zachary, Hannah and Brendan, Jason and Brett. She was blessed to have ten great grandchildren. She leaves behind many nieces, nephews and friends.
A viewing and for Anne will be held on Tuesday, June 15, from 10:30-11:30 am at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 12 Winder Road, New Castle, DE 19720. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at noon with interment St. Peter Cemetery, 515 Harmony Street, New Castle, Delaware 19720.
