Obituary for Anne R. Dougherty (DiFilippo)
Anne DiFilippo Dougherty, age 69 of Wilmington, passed away on December 14, 2020 after a brief but valiant battle with cancer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Anne DiFilippo and her brother, Francis.
Anne is survived by her husband of 40 years, Dan “Mel” Dougherty; her sons, Dan Jr., and Andrew, and his girlfriend, Jackie Conley; her sisters, Rosaria Ranalli of Apopka, FL and Lucille DiFilippo of Wilmington, DE; her sister-in-law, Eileen DiFilippo; her longtime friend, Marie Malatesta; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, many cousins, friends, and her constant companion and rescue dog, Greta.
Anne was a life long hairdresser and phlebotomist at the Blood Bank of Delaware where she worked for 13 years. She was an excellent cook, bocce ball champion, and lover of all types of music. Everyone that knew Anne knew she was an avid animal lover.
Due to COVID-19 all services for Anne will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers the family asks contributions to be made in Anne’s name to the Delaware Humane Society, 701 A St, Wilmington, DE 19801 or Faithful Friends, 12 Germay Dr., Wilmington, DE 19805
