Anne Marie at 85 years of age passed away peacefully in her home on November 29, 2023.
Anne Marie grew up in the former coal mining town of Centralia, PA. A graduate of St Joseph's High School in Ashland, PA where she was recruited by Bell Telephone to work in Philadelphia as an Operator. She married her love Robert Daniel Leiby Sr. on June 20, 1959, and set up home making in Wilmington, DE.
She had a knack for making any occasion special (Big or Small); whether it was lunch with her children’s neighborhood friends or a milestone event. Her family considered her an avid chef with an appreciation for good food. We would talk about food and recipes; she was anyone’s go-to walking recipe book. A great conversationalist who was never at a loss for words or a topic to discuss with us. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her grandchildren have fond memories that will be cherished forever of grabbing a burger or a slice of pizza, picnics at the park, playing board games, walks to the local store or just hanging around having fun.
She is preceded in death by her beloved mother and father, Mary and John, sister, Rose and grandson, Craig.
She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Robert Sr., her children, Bobby, Michele (Steve), Lisa (Joe), Mary (Bob) her grandchildren Rachel, Robert, Chris, Nick (Jen), Daniel (Amanda), Shawn, Alexander and her great-grandchildren. Additionally, her adored brothers and sister, John (Evelyn), Joanie (Andy), Joe (Tina) and many nieces and nephews.
Anne Marie was not only wife, mother, mother-in law, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt; she was our Friend. She will be dearly missed by all that knew her.
All services will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers the family asks contributions to be made in Anne Marie’s name to your favorite
charity or if you prefer, Anne Marie was a lifelong patron of the St. Jude’s Children’s Research
Hospital.
