Charles Jacob Ettinger, III (Chuck), age 88, passed away on 9/3/22 in Milton, DE surrounded by his loving family.
Chuck was born on January 18, 1934, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Charles J. Ettinger Jr and the late Margaret Ettinger (Bildner). He graduated from PS DuPont High School; joined the US Navy and then attended Goldey Beacom. He spent most of his professional career in Finance working for Blazer in Dover (1963-1975), WSFS in Wilmington (1975-1997) and DE Claims in Wilmington.
Chuck was a dedicated Eagles and Phillies fan who collected a lot of memorabilia. He could always be found in the evenings or weekends watching the games; he also collected baseball cards and coins. During the summer months one of his favorite things to do was to pick crabs.
In addition to his parents, Chuck was preceded in death by two sisters, Marion and Alice and brother Robert; he is survived by his wife, Patricia; his children, Kim Payton (Brian), Amy Doyle (Douglas), Jenny Bryant (Roy), Scott Ettinger (Jennifer); Step-son, Carmine Capano (Kim), Step-daughter, Deneen Oberholtzer (Chris); Grandchildren, Danielle Doyle, Shane Doyle, Nathan Bryant, Matthew Bryant (Jazlyn Singh), Noah Bryant, Julia Bryant, Luke Ettinger, Lyla Ettinger, Emmett Foraker (Jeanne), Corey Williams, Chase Williams (Morgin Kirts) and Chelsi Williams (RJ Bowen); great grandchildren Ronan Foraker and Decker Foraker and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial Services will be held on Monday, September 12, 2022 at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy, Wilmington, DE 19805. Visitation from 10 a.m.-11a.m. for friends and family and services will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will take place at Cathedral Cemetery.
