Constance L. Snow
Age 73 of Bear
Passed away on the morning of Tuesday, November 29th, 2022, at the home of her niece, after a long illness.
Connie was diagnosed in 2005, with early onset Alzheimer’s Disease, and began the most difficult challenge of her life, one that would last almost 18 years.
Born Connie Truitt on New Year’s Day in 1949, she was the youngest of three children born to John “Jack” and Mae (Taylor) Truitt. Growing up in New Castle she enjoyed a happy and carefree childhood and many of her friendship would last a lifetime. Connie was a very good dancer. As a teen she and her freidns travelled to Atlantic City to appear on the Grady and Hurst Steele Pier Show. Connie graduated from William Penn High School 1967, a member of the first graduating class of the new high school.
Connie worked for the Colonial School District for several years before going to work for Agilent Technology (formerly Hewlett Packard) where she was an excellent employee for 25 years before retiring due to her illness.
Connie had a bubbly and outgoing personality. She always had a smile on her face and a hello for anyone that crossed her path. Happiest at home, where she enjoyed cooking large meals for her family. She was an especially good baker who, to the delight of her father, was always trying a new cake or cookie recipe. Connie was a great storyteller, who enjoyed sharing childhood adventures. She had a flare for interior decorating. Connie loved spending time with her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Unfortunately, Alzheimer’s struck when they were still young children and prevented them from ever knowing her fully.
Connie will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother, devoted daughter, a great friend, and a very special aunt.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Delores; a nephew, John “Jackie”; and longtime companion, Bill Jones.
Connie is survived by her daughter, Kimberly; grandchildren, Matthew and Jennifer; brother, Charles (Sonny); and nieces, Melissa DiCrisio- Wiegel (Michael) and Vickie Weaver (George), with whom she lived. She is also survived by several great nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Gertrude, Lucie, and Marie for the care they have given Connie over the years, helping to make it possible for her to remain at home.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Celebration of Life Service for Connie on Monday, Dec 12 at 11:00am at Krienen Funeral Home, 101 W. 6th St., New Castle, DE, Friends nay call at the funeral home from 10:00am-11:00am. Interment will take place at Gracelawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers the family asks contributions to be made in Connie’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association, alg.org.
