Obituary for Constantine "Costas" Apostolakos

Constantine Apostolakos, age 70, passed away on October 11, 2021, at Christiana Hospital.

Constantine (also known as Costas) was born in southern Greece in a small, rural village. He did not grow up with much in the way of material things, but was surrounded by a large family, as well as many friends who were like family. He spent the days of his youth helping tend to the family olive and fig trees. It was a simple, yet full life. As he approached young adulthood, Constantine decided to come to America to continue his education and open more opportunities for himself. With almost nothing to his name except his strong will and determination, he set up a home in Florida and worked his way through college. After completing his studies in Chemistry, he entered the pharmaceutical field. He enjoyed a long and diverse career in pharmaceuticals, before retiring from AstraZeneca several years ago.

Costas most enjoyed spending time with friends and family. In his post-retirement years, he enjoyed dining out and going to the beach with his wife. They also would spend time watching the birds and animals outside their home together. Costas also loved to spend time with his two daughters and his three grandchildren. Becoming a grandfather (or in Greek, “Papou”) added a new layer of joy to his life, and Costas loved watching them grow up. He also took great pride in his daughters, as he watched them mature and become successful adults.

Throughout the past several years, Costas would travel back to his home village in Greece in the summer months, where he would catch up with friends and family. He would share stories of life in America and was always sure to bring gifts for them of items that could not be found in Greece. In recent years, Costas also worked on renovating his childhood home after the passing of his mother and brother. This was the home in which he was born, so he took great pride in modernizing it and making it a home anyone would be proud to own.

Costas was preceded in death by his parents, Anna and Mark; and his younger brother, Elias.
He is survived by his wife, Andreana; daughters, Anna McClain (Mike), and Joni McCurn (Alex); grandchildren, Violet, Oliver, and Jameson, plus numerous family and friends both in the U.S. and Greece.

The following statement is from Costas's wife, Andreana "We had a happy life together with love and warmth. He gave me his great heart and gave him mine. I appreciate every single moment we shared together He will always live by me and I will always honor him."
