Obituary for Daniel J Hamilton

Passed away peacefully on December 5, 2022.
Dan was born in Philadelphia to the late Robert and Mary (McNichol) Hamilton. He graduated from Bartram High School in 1944 and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Dan faithfully served his country until his honorable discharge in 1946. While attending Drexel University, he went to work for Yellow Cab. After graduation, Dan became an electrical draftsman and worked for several large electric companies, including G.E.
Dan was an active member of St. Patrick R.C. in Wilmington, where he always enjoyed going to the Latin Mass. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus for many years. Dan liked to hike in Bellevue State Park and enjoy the scenery. He was an accomplished chess player and the Delaware State Senior Champion. Dan enjoyed sharing his love for the game with family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Dan was preceded in death by his loving wife, Rose Mary Hamilton; brother Robert “Chick” Hamilton; and friend, Tony Nolette.
He will be dearly missed by his son, Paul Hamilton; brother, John Hamilton (Connie); and 7 nephews. Dan is also survived by his dear friends, Buzz Smith and Nat Morse, and his neighbors, Ernie and Barbara Minner.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick R.C. Church 1414 N. King St., Wilm., DE 19801, on Saturday, Dec 17 at 10:00am. Friends may call at church from 9:00am-10:00am. Burial will be held privately at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family asks contributions to be made to St. Patrick R.C. Church.
