Obituary for Deborah H Francisco (Hitchens)
Deborah Hitchens Francisco, age 70, of Wilmington, DE, passed away on Friday, September 8th , 2023.
Debbie graduated from Conrad High School in 1970 and University of Delaware in 1974.
While working at Hercules Country Club during college, she met her future husband Bill Francisco. She
then began work in the banking industry, pausing her career after the birth of her son, Donald, and later
worked for many years at PNC and American Honda Finance Corp.
Debbie’s primary focus and source of enjoyment was spending time with her family. Along with Bill and
Don, daughter-in-law Nicole, and grandkids Annabella, Emma, and Vincent, Debbie spent her happiest
days at baseball games, dance recitals, and trips to Rehoboth Beach. Fostering these relationships was
her true passion, especially with her oldest grandchild Anna, who needed extra care due to her special
needs. Debbie was a selfless individual, fully dedicated to the happiness of her family, which also
included the adoption of many cats over the years. Content with the little things, she was happy to
spend her days listening to music with Bill on her porch with a drink in her hand.
Debbie was preceded in death by her mother, Alma Hitchens.
She is survived by her husband, Bill; son Don and his wife Nicole; grandkids Anna, Emma, Vincent; father
Donald Hitchens; sister Diane Stephens; and many dearly loved nieces and nephews.
As Debbie was never one to enjoy being the center of attention, services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Faithful Friends Animal Society or Easterseals
Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore.
