Deborah Lynn Howard
Age 66 of Wilmington
Passed away suddenly on December 7, 2023.
Deb was born and raised in Wilmington to the late Benjamin and Dorothy (Jones) Kates. She was a dedicated employee of the Red Clay School District. She was a child nutritionist for over 25 years. Even in retirement Deb worked as a caregiver to her family, friends, and partner, Tommy Serpe.
Deb is best described by her family. They would say the Deb is an angel who blessed everyone she touched. She was truly one of a kind and loved to dance to the beat of her own drum. Deb would always cook enough to feed an army and she was skilled in cooking all types of cuisines. She also greatly enjoyed traveling, especially beach trips. But most of all Deb loved simply spending time with her family. It didn’t matter what they were doing the simple act of being together was the happiest she ever was.
In addition to her parents, Deb was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Howard, and her sisters, Darlene Porter and Barbara Jackson.
She will be dearly missed by her daughters, Crystal Howard and Dawn Howard ( Tome Ramsey); her grandchildren, Bub Howard (Savanna Rader), Brandon, Marissa, Logan, Paige Lynn, and Mason; her great grandchildren, Christopher, Hunter, Hailey, and Thomas. She is also survived by her sister and best friend, Charlene Jauorsky; brothers-in- law, Ron Howard and Tom Howard.
A graveside service will be held At Gracelawn Memorial Park for Deb on Monday, December 18 at 12:00 noon.
In lieu of flowers the family asks contributions to help defer the cost of the funeral.
