Obituary for Dennis Maney

Dennis Maney passed away on 12/15/2021 surrounded by his loving family.

Dennis was born to the late Robert and Dorothy Maney on June 4th, 1962.

He is survived by five sisters and brothers, Mary Ann, Robert, James, Patty, Martha Ann and David and pre-deceased by his brother Kevin.

Dennis was drawn to a career in carpentry where he quickly excelled. He was a member of the Carpenters Local 626 and started his career with John Healy and Sons where he served his apprenticeship. He moved on to MBNA as a Master Carpenter where his skills were immediately recognized. Dennis then ventured out on his own starting his own successful business, Total Home Construction. Dennis was the Mayor of small construction companies in Delaware. His giving and charismatic way was infectious to all and his rolodex of trade workers and friends was second to none. Needed something done, Dennis was your guy!

His love of carpentry was only outweighed by his love for his wife Kathy. They were married in 1983 and settled into the Wilmington area. They raised two children, Daniel and Amanda. Dennis shared his love of the outdoors with his wife and children. The many camping trips and shared summer vacations with his extended family were the highlight of his life. Dennis shared his love of cooking with his family and friends. Many a family gathering was held at their beautifully refurbished home. Dennis at the helm of the grill making his special concoctions that tantalized the senses of attendees and neighbors alike. His St Patrick Day celebrations were the talk of the town and adored by the local pubs and bars who enjoyed his gathered masses. He shared his love of music with everyone putting Pandora to shame with his music collection. Wherever you found Dennis, music permeated the air.

He was blessed with two grandchildren, Haven and Denni. They soon became mini versions of Dennis as he shared all his loves and life secrets with them. He adored them, and they adored him. His luck continued as he gained a wonderful daughter-in-law Jodi. Knowing his son had that special person in his life, put a huge smile on Dennis’s face.

Life is a journey where we meet many different people along the way. Some are blessings and others are lessons. Dennis was a blessing to all of us. He was a giver, sharing all that he had unselfishly.

Funeral services will be held at Krienen and Griffith Funeral Home 1400 Kirkwood Highway on 12/22/2021.
