Passed away peacefully on June 1 at her home.
Dolleen was born on May 11, 1947 on Mother’s Day. She will always be remembered as a caring, fun loving and giving individual who loved to be with people. She always had many friends, some lifelong, and was still making new ones at the beach. She was known for telling great stories of life experiences and her laughter could light up a room. While residing in Newark, she loved attending country line dancing and karaoke night, which she did for many years. Loving the sand and the sun, she relocated to Lewes in 2006. Over the years many friends and family visited her for beach days, a “girls night” out in Rehoboth.
She graduated from Conrad HS and began immediately working as a dental hygienist for Drs. Norman Shames and Mortimer Wachstein of Wilmington. A natural vocational progression brought her to Connecticut General, Provident Life, and CIGNA Corporation were retiring as an account coordinator.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Naomi (Adkins) Citro of Elsmere.
She is survived by her daughter, Renee Cartwright of Lewes, a brother and two sisters; Susan Citro Curlett (Larry) of St George’s, David Citro (Mary Agnes) of Pike Creek and Dawn Citro Watts (Ronald) of Lewes.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the celebration of life service for Dollen at Krienen – Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy Wilm DE 19805, on Saturday June 10 at 11:00 a.m. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10:00 – 11:00. Interment will be held privately.
