Obituary for Doris E. Winkelman (Wible)

Doris E. (Wible) Winkelman
Age 89 of Wilmington
Passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, October 23, 2023.
Doris was born on July 10th, 1934 to the late John B. and Edith (Ennis) Wible. She was the youngest of 7 children and always talked about her love of growing up in a big family. Doris was a proud 1952 graduate of Media High School.
On January 21st, 1956, Doris married the love of her life, William A. Winkelman. They settled in Wilmington, DE and together lovingly raised their three children. After her children went to high school Doris entered the workforce. She worked in various positions in the food service industry including many years in the Tower Hill High School kitchen. She was an exceptionally hard worker and took great pride in all she did.
Doris was a talented singer and shared her gift with family and friends. She loved to sing in the church choir when she was younger and attend any show or concert she could with her husband. Doris enjoyed cooking and baking for her family. She always made sure no one left her kitchen hungry. Doris loved cats and had many favorites throughout the years. And in her retirement, she loved to spend time at the Casino trying her luck on the penny slots.
Doris had a warm and loving personality. Her sense of humor and infectious smile made her a cherished friend to many. She was the ultimate wife, mother, and grandmother and did everything she could to help her family succeed in life. She will be dearly missed.
Doris was preceded in death by her dear husband of 65 years, William “Bill” Winkelman; her brothers, John Wible, Robert Wible, and Wesley Wible, and her infant brother, George; her sisters, Edith Shockley and Elizabeth Myers.
She is survived by her three children, Donna L. Johnson (Marvin), William J. Winkelman (Diana), and Robert A. Winkelman (Michelle); her grandchildren, Beth Ann Aupperle (Jared), Brooke Winkelman, Robert Dallas Winkelman, and Christopher Allan Winkelman; her great- grandchildren, Nevaeh Grubb, Micah Aupperle, Celia Aupperle, and Ash Aupperle.
