Edward G. "Bones" Maloney
Age 66, passed away on May 4, 2023.
Bonesy was born in Wilmington and grew up in the "40 Acres". He graduated from Delcastle Tech High School. He worked mainly in the Custodial field, last at the YMCA.
As a young man he was active at the Stapler Athletic Association club, where he played softball for many years. He loved the Phils, Flyers, Eagles and Sixers and enjoyed attending their games with friends and family. His own proud sports memory was winning the State Football championship with St. Ann's CYO in '71-'72!
He was close with his family and is survived by brothers; John F. II (J) and wife Diane, Joseph (Bo), Robert and wife Val and Chris (Buck). And sisters; Regina (Matt Risner) and Sophia Maloney. He was fond of his many nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was preceded by his parents, John F. "Coby" and Esther Maloney and brother Matt.
Bonesy was lovingly cared for by our sister, Sophia. She and our brother, Bo, were ever present during the past 2 years while Ed resided at the Hillside Complete Care facility. Rob was his healthcare advocate for many years. The family would like to express our gratitude and respect for all of the staff at Hillside and the Helen Graham Cancer Center.
All Services for Bonesy will be held privately.
