Obituary for Elizabeth L. "Betty" Thomas (Blansett)

Elizabeth L. “Betty” Thomas
Age 90 of Wilmington
Passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 20, 2020.
Betty was born on December 30, 1929 in Johnstown, PA, to the late Martha and Stanley Elmo Blansett.
Betty was a hard-working person. She took great pride in her careers at both the Hotel DuPont and the University and Whist Club.
Outside of work, Betty was the ultimate matriarch of the family. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Betty helped care for all of her grandchildren and was always a willing babysitter for her great grandchildren. She had the amazing ability to make each and every one of them feel like her favorite. Betty was an accomplished painter and many of her works can be found in her families’ homes. She was also a talented crocheter, giving each of the new babies in the family their own blanket. Betty is most known for her beautiful garden of roses and tulips and always wearing her pearls no matter the occasion. She left a remarkable impact on her family and will be truly missed by all that knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cyrus Thomas; her grandson, Donald White; and her sisters, Nancy Hackett and Joann Weaver.
Left to cherish Betty’s memory are her children, Larry Thomas and his wife, Toni; Leslie White and her husband, Rick; and Linda Murray; her 9 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Bob Blansett, Jim Blansett, June Gottwald, and Tom Blansett
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the service for Betty at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Wilm., DE 19805, on Thursday, Oct 1 at 12:30pm. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11:30am-12:30pm. Interment will follow at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
