Surrounded by family, Ellen Senkowski Gray peacefully passed away on March 12 after a long illness. Beloved by family and friends, Ellen was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and wife.
Born in Philadelphia, PA and raised in Lancaster, PA, Ellen graduated from Lafayette College with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. After a successful engineering career, Ellen enjoyed an active career as a stay-at-home mother to her three children Meghan, Sarah, and Daniel. She became very active in her community, serving on school boards and fundraising committees, and teaching adults to read.
A successful athlete, Ellen played basketball in high school and college, collecting lifelong friendships along the way. Even after her playing career ended, the annual tradition of gathering in the Poconos with her college teammates and friends continued for over 40 years. Coaching and teaching basketball for many years also brought her much joy. Along with basketball, learning to play golf at a high level became a passion as the children grew older, scoring 2 holes-in-one during her golf career.
Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, Anne and Walter Senkowski. She is survived by her husband Glen, children and children-in-law Meghan and Jason, Sarah and Michael, and Daniel, five grandchildren, and her brothers and sisters Steve, Barbara, Walt, Mimi, and Lisa, and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
