Obituary for Emily A Lewis (Allegretto)

Emily (Mimi) A. Lewis passed into eternal rest on Sunday, December 19, 2021, at the Kutz Home surrounded by her loving family.

Emily was born on July 23, 1922, in Wilmington, to Charles and Mary Allegretto. She graduated from P.S. DuPont High School class of 1941. Later that same year she was chosen as “Wilmington’s Typical Girl” for the grand opening of Loew’s New Aldine Theater in Wilmington. In 1942 she was a contestant in the Miss Delaware Pageant.

She was employed by the DuPont Company before marrying her high school sweetheart, Robert F. Lewis, in 1948. At the time of his passing they had been married for 71 years. Mimi had a love for animals, especially her dogs; Candy, Penny, and Holly. She enjoyed vacations in Wildwood and cooking for her family. She also took great pride in her home in which she resided for over 50 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, and her sister, Florence Rutter. She is survived by her nephew, William Stoddart III; her niece, Linda (Kenneth) MacLeod; her great niece, Kimberly (Jay) Drutchal; her great nephew, Kenneth (Nicole) MacLeod, Jr; as well as several great great nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their thanks to The Kutz Home and Compassionate Care Hospice for the exceptional care they provided in their time of need.

Services will be held on Wednesday, Dec 29 from 10:00am-11:00am at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Why., Wilm., DE 19805. Burial will be held at Cathedral Cemetery.
