Obituary for Evelyn Mullin (Heanue)

Wilmington – Evelyn Mullin (nee Heanue), age 92, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 18, 2023 with her family by her side. She was born October 14, 1930 in Renvyle, County Galway, Ireland, the daughter of the late Patrick and Norah Heanue, and wife of Hubert Mullin, who died in 1967. Evelyn was preceded in death by sisters, Annie and Bernie, brothers, John, Mick, Paddy and Willie, and nephew Kevin Griffin.

Evelyn is survived by her son Michael (Susan), and three grandchildren, Colleen Conkey (Drew), Michael Pat Mullin (Natalie) and Erin O’Toole (John). She was affectionately referred to as GG by her two great granddaughters, Evelyn and Aoife O’Toole, great grandson Owen Conkey and was looking forward to the impending arrival of two great grandsons. Evelyn is also survived by her brother, Paul Heanue in Ireland, sister Noreen Griffin in Florida, and many beloved nieces and nephews, especially Sean Griffin (Kathleen), Sharon Griffin, Denise Griffin, Linda Griffin, and Ken Griffin (Beth).

Evelyn belonged to the New Castle County Irish Society and was a charter member of the Irish Culture Club of Delaware. She was a long-time parishioner of St. Joseph on the Brandywine Church in Greenville, Delaware where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am Wednesday, March 29, 2023. A visitation for family and friends will be held prior to Mass from 10:00 am to 10:30 am. Interment immediately following at St. Joseph’s cemetery.

Evelyn’s family would like to thank Dr. Cynthia Heldt for her years of dedicated, loving care and AccentCare Delaware Hospice at Wilmington Hospital for their kindness and compassion.

In lieu of flowers, Evelyn’s wishes were for memorial donations be sent to the Father James Trainor Scholarship Fund, 107 East 14th Street, Wilmington, DE 19801.
