Francis J. McCaffery, age 61, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, November 9, 2022.

Fran was born in Wilmington, Delaware on August 4, 1961. He attended St. Thomas Elementary School and graduated from St. Elizabeth High School in 1979. He went on to receive his Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Goldey-Beacom College in Wilmington, Delaware.

Fran was a loyal Notre Dame fan. Rarely missing a game during football or basketball season, traveling at times with family and friends to see his favorite team play in person. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his large extended family. Union Park Gardens was the hub of weekly family gathering, influencing his decision to settle down in that neighborhood. He was a devoted son, brother and uncle; always making time to celebrate events like weddings, christenings and birthdays. He was greatly loved by his numerous nieces and nephews. His commitment to family extended to his research into the McCaffery family genealogy, tracing their lineage back multiple generations to the 1600s.

He was preceded in death by his parents Francis J. McCaffery and Patricia A. (Mulshenock) McCaffery, his brother John Aloysius, his brother-in-law Jeffrey Nemeth, his nephew Kyle Bowers and his beloved dog Shamrock. He is survived by his siblings – Michael McCaffery (Barbara), Jerome McCaffery (Nancy), Kathleen Nemeth, Eileen Bowers (Patrick), James McCaffery and Theresa Burch (David); 15 nieces and nephews and 16 great nieces and great nephews.
