Obituary for Gerald M Murray

Gerald Michael Murray, aged 63, passed away on March 22, 2024, surrounded by his sons and siblings. He was a beloved father, brother, and uncle.

Gerry was born on October 17, 1960, in Wilmington, DE where he resided his entire life. Gerry was a 1978 graduate of the esteemed Salesianum School. Master Sergeant Gerald M. Murray was a 31-year veteran of the Wilmington Police Department serving from 1982-2013. During his distinguished career, he received several accolades and was admired by his fellow officers.

Gerry was an Avid Philadelphia Sports fan (GO BIRDS!), a lover of game night with his siblings, a guitar-playing music lover, and was always ready for a delicious steak dinner with his sons.

Gerry was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Patrick and Eleanor Mary Murray and his son, Gerald Scott Profita.

He is survived by his sons, Christopher Murray (Sarah Malone) and Richard Murray (Chaney Giordano) and his new granddaughter, Liliana Madeline Murray. He is survived by his siblings, Kathleen Marsh (Jon), Dorothy Raughley (Bob), Maryellen Quinn (Bill Kachel), Eleanor Murray OSB, John Thomas Murray (Patty), Robert Murray, Edward Murray (Krista), his many nieces and nephews and his former wives, Carla Power (née Bratton) and Cheryl Murray (née Akers).

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Services to celebrate Gerry’s life at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Wilm., DE 19805, on Wednesday March 27 at 11:30am. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10:00-11:30am. Interment will follow at Cathedral Cemetery.
