Passed away peacefully at home on October 1, 2023.
Harry was born in Concord, PA to the late James L. and Florence H. McCalley on September 9, 1927, and was raised in Spotsylvania, VA.
Harry served three years in the U.S. Army including 18 months overseas in Korea. When he returned home, he went to work for Continental Can for over 19 years. Harry worked for E.I. DuPont retiring after 18 years of dedicated service.
He was a member of the St. John Lodge #2 and a member of the Ancient Scottish Rite within the Masons. In his down time Harry was an talented gardener and was able to grow just about anything.
In addition to his parents, Harry was preceded in death by his dear wife, Betty, with whom he shared 50 years of marriage.
He is survived by his niece, Joan Pritchett of Stafford, VA; his great nieces, Sherri Nosar (Freddy), Shelda Anderson (Roger), and Karen McClellan (Dana); and his great nephew, Danny Way (Melonie), as well as a host of great, great nieces and nephews, and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Masonic service for Harry at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 101 W. 6th St., New Castle, DE on Tuesday, Oct 10 at 11:00am. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10:00am-11:00am. Interment and military honors will take place at Gracelawn Memorial Park.
