James “Jim” Dewitt Hayslip
Age 74 of Wilmington
Passed away in his home on Sunday, May 26, 2019.
Jim was born in Houston, Texas to the late Mary (Skillard) and James D. Hayslip, Sr. Work moved Jim to Delaware in the 1980s. He was a Union instrument tech at Hope Creek Nuclear Plant (PSE&G) and proudly retired after 30 years of service. Jim married the love of his life, Judy, on June 17, 1988. Together they shared a happy life raising their children, spending time with friends, and simply enjoying each other’s company.
Jim was a man of many hobbies. He was a true outdoorsman who loved, fishing, crabbing, and camping. Jim cherished the time her spent at the beach and golfing with all his work buddies. He also enjoyed traveling, especially his favorite destination, South Dakota. But most of all Jim loved his family. He was a proud husband, father, and Poppop.
Jim was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Cameron “Sissy” Griner.
He will be dearly missed by his wife of 32 years, Judy; his children, Jamie Hayslip, Thomas Hayslip (Shannon), Alicia Hayslip, Kristan Krueger, and Jenna Minsker; his grandchildren, Thomas Nathaniel Hayslip, Taylor Nicole Hayslip, Katie Wyatt, Kaylie Wyatt, Madison Paige Griner, Caleb Haylsip, and Noel Krueger. He is also survived by his brother, Robert Hayslip (Karen).
Relatives and Friends are invited to attend the service for Jim at Christ the Cornerstone Church, 6 N. Clifton Ave., Wilm., DE, on Friday, May 31 at 5:00pm. Friends may call at the church from 4:00pm -5:00pm. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers the family asks contributions to be made in Jim’s name to Christ the Cornerstone United Methodist Church, 6 N. Clifton Rd., Wilm., DE 19805.
