Obituary for James T. "Pop" Fiore

James T. “Pop” Fiore
Age 78 of Newark
Passed away on Friday, May 14, 2021 at Christiana Hospital after a long illness.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Florence (Rolph) Fiore, and his brother, Robert Lynn Perry, Sr.
Jim is survived by his wife of 46 years, Judith Kasun Fiore; his children, Victor Thomas Fiore (Crystal), Angela Phillipson (Kevin), James Fiore Jr., Theresa Blaire (Joseph); his 7 grandchildren; his 5 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his nephew, Robert Lynn Perry Jr., and sister-in-law, Joan Marie Kasun.
Jim was born and raised in New Castle, spending much of his youth in Collins Park. He graduated from Wilmington High School in 1960 after which he joined the U.S. Navy serving on the aircraft carrier USS Independence CVA-62.
Jim maintained his love for the sea for the remainder of his life. He was an avid reader and loved playing percussion instruments including the bodhran, spoons, and drums. He accompanied several performers at the Pennsylvania Renaissance Fair and Mystic Seaport Music Festival under the guise of the Pirate Sarion. He was also a crew member on the Kalamor Nyckel for five years.
Jim volunteered as an Indian guide leader as well as a Cubmaster and Boy Scout leader. He was also the owner operator of Newark Locksmith for 40 years. He was always willing to help and loved all people. Jim will be dearly missed.
