Obituary for John P. Robinson
John P. “Jack” Robinson, age 76, passed away on Wednesday, September 20 th , 2023. Jack passed peacefully after a multi-year battle with cancer.
Jack was born on February 11 th , 1947, to late John & Mary (Dolhancryk) Robinson in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Jack proudly grew up in the Fairmount neighborhood of Philadelphia and attended Roman
Catholic High School where he graduated with honors. Jack continued his education with a study abroad to Puerto Rico, becoming fluent in Spanish as a young adult. He later attended Philadelphia Community
College and graduated from Temple University with his bachelor’s degree.
Jack was an avid Philadelphia sports fan; one could almost say the Phillies and Eagles were his religion. His days were filled keeping up with professional and collegiate sports, reading endlessly, and playing
trivia to the point of winning some championships locally. Jack loved music all his life, especially folk music and enjoyed concerts and festivals in his younger years. He was a life-long learner, an advocate for education, and an ally of humanitarian and civil rights.
Jack is preceded in death by his father and mother, John, and Mary (Dolhancryk) Robinson, his brothers, James “Jim” Robinson, and Edward “Ed” Robinson.
Jack is survived by his beloved daughter, Melissa Robinson Fellows (Shane Fellows), and his grandson Finn. Additionally, he is survived by his ex-wife, Linda Robinson; brother Thomas Robinson (Rita Robinson), and many cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Jack's in-home caregivers who provided exceptional care until the end, Shamea Mayo and Jimmy Blount
A private memorial service will be held for immediate family.
