After retiring, Joe’s daily routine included walking, having coffee with friends at Leonetti’s Bakery and later Dunkin Donuts, then sitting on the bench in front of the Elsmere Fire House talking with the guys.
Joe was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Margaret (Peggy) Mongillo; his parents, Joseph and Frances (Staszcak) Kempczynski; sisters, Irene Szostkowski, Mary Matuszewski, and Anne Miazga Zawacki; multiple in-laws, a niece, and nephew.
Joe is survived by his sons, Thomas, Wayne, and Michael; daughters, Joanne, Diane, and son in law James Venninger (whom he resided with for 10 years); his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; his brother, Anthony Kempczynski; and extended family, Kathy Keysor.
The family would also like to thank his caring nurses and staff from Brookdale Rotunda, and Tidewell Hospice. In lieu of flowers contributions to these organizations would be greatly appreciated.
