Obituary

Katherine M. Kane
Age 83 of Wilmington
Katherine M. Kane born on April 9, 1937 passed away peacefully in her daughter Mary’s home. She died of natural causes. She was surrounded by her children and grandchildren during the last two weeks and months prior.
Katherine was a graduate of Ursuline Academy and the St. Francis School of Nursing. She was employed at St. Francis Hospital as a registered nurse until she became the mother of nine children. She later worked for Vanguard In vestment Group until her retirement. Katherine enjoyed her time with her children, especially at the beach in Sea Isle City, NJ, and Fire Island on Long Island. She enjoyed trips to Ireland and loved going to Atlantic City and Delaware Park. Katherine was a collector of costume jewelry and Christmas decorations, and greatly enjoyed Halloween. She loved Elvis and treasured time spent out and about with her children.
Katherine was the daughter of the the late Mark and Mary (Dugan) McLaughlin. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her ex-husband, Robert Kane; her brothers, William McLaughlin and Peter McLaughlin; and her sister, Sr. Anne Elizabeth McLaughlin RSM D.Min (Doatsie)
She will be dearly missed by her children, Mark Kane, Robert Kane (Marcella) Margaret Mary Kane, Gerald Kane, Carolyn Kane, Peter Kane, Matthew Kane, Catherine Kane-Picciotti (Anthony) and Daniel Kane; her 11 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. Katherine is also survived by her brothers, Mark McLaughlin, James McLaughlin, our beloved uncle John McLaughlin, and her sister, Elizabeth “Sissy” McLaughlin.
Due to the unprecedented COVID 19 pandemic, our family is saddened that we are not able to have a service at this time. As soon as it is possible, and without restrictions, our family will host a celebration of our mother’s life. We hope that you will all help us celebrate her life as soon as time comes.
The Kane family would like to thank Seasons Hospice, in particular her nurses, Kristen McKinley RN, Natalia Copes RN, Susan Awi LPN, and the many aides that came to care for our mother. Seasons also had a Musical Therapist, Genevieve Aucoin, who came with a beautiful voice and sang to our mother the day before she passed. We could not be happier about the comfort and peace our mother was in during her last days.
