It is with incredible sadness to report that Keith Glunt passed away on 5/3/2023 and has broken an immortality pact probably just so he could say he was the first to do so. That's about rude.
Keith was born in Le Mars, Iowa on 12/31/1958 and then proudly raised in Pennsville, New Jersey. He later moved to Delaware where he met his wife of 37 years, Joan, with whom he started a family and kicked off a lifetime of happiness, chaos, and jokes... often made at his expense.
Keith worked for Urban Engineers for 34 years which he used to justify owning more t-shirts than his whole family combined.
Keith loved to travel; whether it was to Florida to visit his brother or The Mouse, the Outer Banks to have an "actually relaxing" vacation, or up to Maine to hike and watch sunsets on Cadillac Mountain - he was always up for an adventure. On weekends when he wasn’t on the road to soccer or hockey games, Keith could be found eating Cheese Puffys while watching Philly sports on his porch or in the basement.
On summer days he loved sitting outside and eating crabs with his kids or visiting the New Castle farmer’s market for a sausage sandwich before searching for flea market treasures to add to his endless collection of collections (mostly to see if he found anything that he wouldn’t find during his Thursday morning ritual of thrifting, but also because he loved to haggle). Keith loved his cats as well as his Googers. In his retirement, Keith got very into leaf-blowing, chasing squirrels away from his bird feeder, and crafting.
Throughout life, Keith maintained a love of music - from playing the trumpet in school, being in “the band” in the 80’s (he was the lights guy but if you asked him, that counted), attending metal concerts with his children, to listening to (way too loud) music from his phone without headphones while doing puzzles.
Keith was an avid and average bowler and frequented the Bowlerama with his team, the Motley Crew, every Thursday night for the better half of each year. He would always come home and say “I sucked tonight”, so his actual prowess remains a mystery to anyone outside the league.
Keith is preceded in death by his son, Jamie; parents, Charles and Winifred; father-in-law, Connie; brother, Bill; brother-in-law, Connie; sister-in-law, Susan; and a plethora of pets both furry and aquatic.
In his wake, Keith rudely leaves his wife, Joan; son Matt(Caitlin); daughters Kate, Shannon, and Taylor; brothers Darrel(Kathy) and Tery(Cindy); grandson, Andrew; many in-laws and nieces/nephews who will miss their Uncle Keith; a brood of future grandchildren who will unfortunately never meet their Grand Poobah and will instead have to hear about him from the likes of the authors of this obituary; and a litany of others.
Visitations for family, friends, and enemies will be held at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home,1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Wilm., DE 19805, on Wednesday, May 10th from 11-12:30pm followed by a brief service and a celebration all about him, just as he would have wanted.
