Obituary for Kenneth T "Kenny" Catalina Jr.

Kenny T. Catalina, Jr. was born, Nov. 10, 1968 to Kenneth T. Catalina and Nancy R. (nee Cheseroni). Kenny died very suddenly and unexpectedly on October 28, 2022 shortly after arriving for his shift at Kimberly-Clark in Chester, Pa.

Kenny graduated from Wilmington High School in 1986. Soon after graduating high school, Kenny enlisted with the U. S. Marine Corps. on January 5, 1987. He was stationed at Camp Lejeune, & he later served in the Iraq war. He was in the U.S. Marine Corps. for six years; his rank was “Corporal”.

Kenny worked at Kimberly-Clark for 15 years. His most recent position was as an Asst. Shift Leader. He made a lot of good friends there. He really enjoyed his job. Prior to working at Kimberly-Clark, he worked at Del Campo’s Bakery for many years until they closed.

Kenny dared to be different. He was a unique & quirky individual with eclectic & eccentric tastes, but he also had a heart of gold. He loved the family pet cat, Cello, whom he affectionately nick-named “Rat face”. He was definitely a “foodie”; he loved good food and good wine. Every year he looked forward to The Greek Festival, and the Italian Festival. He loved taking vacations to Las Vegas, to the Pacific Northwest, & the Western United States in general. He was also very smart. Once he was interested in something, he would immerse himself in it, & learn all he could on the subject, whether it be dinosaurs, & video games when he was a child, to WWII & American History as an adult. He would become a walking encyclopedia. He may also have been a bit of a conspiracy theorist as well, & that’s okay.

Kenny was pre-deceased by his parents, Kenneth T. “Cat”, & Nancy, & his cousin, Christopher A. Modesto. He is survived by his 3 siblings: Nicole Giannattasio (Gary), Victor, & Joseph.

A special thanks to his co-workers at Kimberly-Clark who were by his side the entire time, & acted swiftly & carefully, & also to the doctor’s at Crozer-Chester Medical Center.

A viewing and service will be held at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home on Kirkwood Highway, in Elsmere, DE on November 10, 2022. Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. The service will be from 12:00 to 1:00 pm.
