Lafayette E. Moore
Age 83 of New Castle
Passed away peacefully at home on November 10, 2023.
Lafay was born in Waynesburg, PA to the late George and Jessie (Maple) Moore. He grew up on the family farm with his four siblings. In his younger years Lafay enjoyed spending time outdoors; boating, fishing, and going to the beach.
In 1961, Lafay moved his young family to Delaware in search of work. He worked several small jobs before starting at the Sunolin Company. But soon after Lafay began his own company, Radar Security Systems. He operated his business successfully for over 46 years before retiring.
When he wasn’t working Lafay loved to give back to the New Castle Community. He was an active member of the New Castle Lions and a former Trustee. He was a member of the New Castle United Methodist Church, the Shiners, and a 32nd degree Mason. All of the organizations he was passionate about had a common theme, helping others. Lafay was dedicated to his community and would help anyone he could. Lafay was also an avid golfer and enjoyed golfing in many local charity tournaments with his friends and coworkers.
In addition to his parents, Lafay was preceded in death by his siblings, Walter Moore and Margaret Long.
He will be dearly missed by his wife of 64 years, Loretta Jo Moore; his children, Kenneth Moore (Susan), Kevin Moore (Susan), and Leah Ann Baldo(Steven); and his four grandchildren, Hope Snider (Wes), Julian Moore (Samantha), Kyle Moore, and Jillian Baldo. Lafay is also survived by his siblings, Lloyd Moore and Evelyn McGlumphy (John), and many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Service for Lafay at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 101 W. 6th St., New Castle, DE, on Thursday, November 16 at 11:00am. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10:00am-11:00am. Interment will take place at Gracelawn Memorial Park.
