Obituary for Linda E Cannon

Linda (Dolly) E. Cannon, age 88, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 18, 2024 at home surrounded by family. She was born February 3, 1936 in New Castle, Delaware, the first of 8 children, to Charles and Linda (Schwander) Stevenson. She was a 1955 graduate of St. Peter’s High School. In the same year she married the love of her life Ralph Cannon.
Linda was a lifetime resident of New Castle, born and raised, and considered herself a true Castilian. She was a loving homemaker who was a constant source of love, light, forgiveness and warmth for all. Her home was the heart of the family, beautiful and welcoming, bringing everyone together to celebrate the holidays. She loved seeing all the kids in costumes at Halloween and was always known to have the biggest Christmas tree every year. She loved cooking, crabbing, fishing, road trips on Rt 9, boat rides and could make a picnic at Battery Park seem like an adventure to a far away land. She had a never-ending supply of love and patience for us all and it will be greatly missed. But don’t forget how much, whole wide world and beyond, beyond, beyond.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Cannon; her son, Robin Cannon; and great grandson, Buddy Johnson.
Linda will be dearly missed by her son, Bill Cannon; her grandchildren, Amy Cannon, Mandy Cannon, Stacy Cannon, Angela Cannon, Billy Cannon, Joshua Cannon, Jimmy Hopper, David Tuohey, Tom Deptula, and Leanne Deptula; her 13 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Mary Cannon, her siblings, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Celebration of Life for Linda on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at 1:00pm at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 101 W. 6th St., New Castle, DE. Friends may call at the funeral home from 12:00pm-1:00pm. Interment will take place at the Glebe.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Huntington’s Disease Society of America. hdsa.org
