Obituary for Margaret B. "Peg" Connelly (Boylan)

Margaret B. Connelly
Age 81 of Newark
Passed away peacefully at home on November 12, 2021, after a long illness.
Peg was born in Wilmington to the late Jessie and Edward Boylan. She was raised in New Castle and other areas around the state. She was a proud 1958 graduate of William Penn High School. Peg went to work in the office of Hires Turner Glass Company. After marrying the love of her life, Donald Connelly, she became a dedicated stay at home mother to her two children. When her children entered high school Peg rejoined the work force. She was an excellent seamstress and shared her talent with others by teaching sewing and working for the Sewing Machine Doctor. Peg greatly enjoyed making specialty items for the children of family and friends.
Peg had a love of nature. She enjoyed taking long walks and hikes with her husband, especially through parts of the Appalachian Trail. Peg turned her love of nature into a service for others by being a Girl Scout Leader for many years. She also enjoyed traveling to many locations, but her favorite was Scotland, to visit her cousin, Janette Tennant. But most of all Peg was a caring person. She was happiest helping others in any way she could.
Peg was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church. She served in many leadership positions. She truly enjoyed helping to plan, run, and participate in many of the church’s social activities.
In addition to her parents Peg was preceded in death by her sisters, Nancy Boylan, Frani Degnars, and Kathy Kahn; her stepmother, Ruth Boylan; and step siblings, Ruth Brady and Steven Brady.
She will be greatly missed by her loving husband, Donald Connelly; her children, Pamela Connelly of Wilmington, DE and Donald Connelly (Rebecca) of Knightdale, NC; her grandchildren, Christine Saunders (Brad) of Lexington, SC and Michael Connelly (Crystal) of Cary, NC; and her great grandchildren, Jackson, Peyton, and Bennett Saunders, and Mila Connelly. Peg is also survived by her sister, Vanessa Brady (John) of Wilmington, DE and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
The family would also like to thank Nurse Leslie and the rest of the caring staff of Delaware Hospice, as well as everyone who helped to care for Peg.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the service for Peg on Friday, November 19, at 10:00am at Krienen-Griffith funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Wilm., DE 19805. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, November 18 from 6:00pm-8:00pm. Interment will be held privately at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
