Obituary for Mark K Larsen

Mark Kieran Larsen died peacefully at home with his family by his side on November 14, 2020. Mark was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, and grew up surrounded by a large group of Irish and Italian relatives. Mark lived his early years in New Jersey, and he was part of the first graduating class of Ocean Township High School in 1967.

Mark held a variety of positions in New Jersey with Coin Depot Corporation, Coca-Cola, and Canada Dry. In 1997, he moved to Las Vegas with his sister and parents to be closer to family out West. He particularly enjoyed the desert climate, mountain views, and being with his extended family. He pursued various hobbies throughout his life, including target shooting, scuba diving, coin collecting, hiking, golf, and exploring the various National Parks out West.

In Las Vegas, Mark took a position with the Imperial Palace Casino (now The Linq), where he held roles in casino security, and later as a gaming dealer. He became a Union Representative, and in that role he showed great dedication toward bringing about positive change. Mark retired and moved to Delaware with his family in 2019.

Mark was known to be a strong, but quiet man who loved and supported his family deeply. His calm and low-key personality belied a hidden wit and humor. He could be surprisingly funny and sarcastic. He was such a unique person who gave of himself and lived simply. He always stepped up to take care of his parents, his sister and other relatives with absolutely no desire for any recognition or praise. His selfless and humble dedication to those he loved was an example to everyone around him. He will be missed.

Mark was preceded in death by Harry Larsen, Michael Gagliano, and his grandparents Kieran and Nora Glynn. He is survived by his mother Eleanor Gagliano, his nephew Bill Murphy, niece Dawn Murphy Proctor and her husband Gary Proctor. He was loved by his grand-niece Ariana Murphy and grand-nephew Colin Murphy and their mother Anona. He also held a special place in the hearts of his many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Mark cared very much about animals. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to your local animal shelter.
