Obituary for Mary Alice Nagle (Smoot)

Mary Alice (Smoot) Nagle

Age 88 of Newark passed away on Sunday, September 16, 2018 with her family by her side.

Mary Alice was born in Wilmington to the late Mary (Brown) and Benjamin F. Smoot Jr. She was a proud graduate of Wilmington High School in 1948. Mary Alice was an employee of DuPont working in their medical equipment department. She retired after 28 years of dedicated service. Mary Alice was a part of many organizations. She was immensely proud of her lifelong membership to the Delaware Saengerbung Association. She also belonged to Holy Family Church and often volunteered at the Little Sisters of the Poor.
Mary Alice loved to read and enjoyed any and all puzzles, word games, or cryptograms. But most of all she adored her children and grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her children, Robert Nagle and Deborah Nagle, and her brothers, Robert Smoot and Glenn Smoot.

Mary Alice is survived by her children, John Nagle (Cathy), Michael Nagle (Suzanne), Patrick Nagle (Celeste), William Nagle, Jr. (Heidi), and Mary Wiltsey (John); her 20 grandchildren; and many beloved great grandchildren. She will also be dearly missed by her best friend and life partner, Theodore Antonelli; and her brother, Richard Smoot.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Angels R.C. Church, 82 Possum Park Rd., Newark, DE, on Friday, Sept 21 at 11:00 am. Friends may call at the church from 10:00 am-11:00am. Interment will take place in All Saints Cemetery.
