Obituary for Nancy Lee Rambo (Franklin)

Nancy Lee Franklin Rambo, 73, passed away from cancer on February 8, 2019 at Season’s Hospice. Nancy, the oldest of five children of Carl & Leona Franklin, was born on January 7, 1946 in West Chester, PA. Her early years were enjoyed on farms in the rural areas of Unionville, PA, until her family relocated to Elsmere, DE. From then on, Nancy remained a proud Elsmere resident.

Nancy married her beloved friend and husband, David M. Rambo, fifty-two years ago on July 16, 1966. While Dave worked for years as a drywall contractor, Nancy focused on raising their son, Paul and daughter, Tracey and working at her own cleaning service or for other employers. In addition to Paul and Tracey, Nancy’s caring nature was always the magnet that drew other children to call her Mom or Grandmom. Nancy’s arms and heart were open to all.

Through the years, Nancy & Dave loved traveling to upstate Pennsylvania and New York to visit family and friends at mountain hunting camps, but their greatest joy was spending summers at their trailer on the North East River. Many a year they were the first and last campers at their Craft Haven home. Summers on the Bay will miss this fun-loving woman.

In Nancy’s own words, she wanted ‘to be remembered as always being caring and helpful and tried to be cheerful.’ Nancy succeeded in her wish. Her family & friends will always remember this beautiful woman who gifted us with her love.

Nancy was predeceased by her parents, Carl J. Franklin, Sr. and Leona Johnson Franklin. She is survived by her husband, Dave, her son and daughter-in-law, Paul & Samantha Rambo and her daughter, Tracey Rambo; her brothers: Butch (Gail), Steve and Ray Franklin, and her sister, Kim (Joe) Mullins, her brother-in-law Rick Rambo (Dawn); her grandchildren David & Sammi Jo Rambo, and Travis (Francheska) Rambo, and great grandchild Sofia; and numerous nephews, nieces & cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to the service on Thursday, February 14, at 12 noon at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home 1400 Kirkwood Hwy, Wilmington, DE 19805. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10:30-12. Interment will be in Silverbrook Cemetery following the service.
