Patricia Ann was born on August 10, 1952 in Wilmington, DE. She passed away at her home on November 13, 2022 at age 70.
Patricia Ann was the daughter of the late Joseph P. Dugan and the late Elizabeth T. (Reilly) Dugan. She was preceded in death by her former husband, Francis A. DiMichele, Jr., father of their daughter. She is survived by her daughter, Christine; her son-in-law, Shaun; and her only grandson, Vincent.
She attended Corpus Christi School and Conrad High School. She worked at the Wilmington Dry Goods store, Chase Manhattan Bank and St. Francis Hospital, as well as, helping her family with their food service businesses.
“Trish” or “Trishy” is what most called her, but to her daughter, she will always be the “Mothership”. She was a beautiful soul who truly embodied unconditional love. She did not aspire to climb the corporate ladder, but dedicated her time and energy to being an extraordinarily loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, grandmother, and friend. She put these roles above anything else.
Trish took great pride and joy in her grandson having fun while spending time with his Mommom. Her relaxed and easy-going personality allowed her daughter to grow up knowing that she could speak to her Mom about anything. Trish could always manage to make the mundane into great fun, and to make whatever was wrong be all right again. She did not like to give you advice, but instead, she made you feel like things weren’t so bad and that you were capable of handling anything in front of you. She always wanted you to be confident in your own decisions.
She enjoyed watching old movies in her younger years, such as Doris Day, and as she got older, she would watch Christmas movies all year long and wonder why she didn’t feel like watching them at Christmas time. She loved reading, crocheting, gardening, bird watching and going to the beach. She enjoyed sketching people and drawing pictures – collecting stacks of sketch books filled with all her artistry. On holidays, she would dance in the kitchen with her family while showing off her one signature dance move. Trish had a smile that lit up the room and was a very warm and kind person to all people.
She will be deeply missed by her daughter and son-in-law, Christine M. and Shaun R. Barnes of Newark; her grandson, Vincent J. Barnes; her brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Sandra Dugan of Millsboro; her brothers, Wayne Dugan of Wilmington and Kevin Dugan of Millsboro; her brother-in-law Robert Edgar, and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in her death, Karen Ann Edgar, her sister, and Edward Sulecki, her former brother-in-law.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Celebration of Life service for Patricia Ann at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Wilmington, DE 19805, on Monday, November 28 at 12:30pm. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11:00am-12:30pm. Interment will take place at All Saints Cemetery immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, please spend time with the ones you love. Trish valued her time with her family and friends above all else and wanted her loved ones to spend more time with their parents, grandparents and family. Our time with them is never long enough. This would be the best way to honor her memory. That is what the Mothership would want.
