Obituary for Patricia "Patsy" Myers
Patricia “Patsy” Myers, 83, of Wilmington, Delaware passed away peacefully on July 21, 2023 at Christiana Hospital surrounded by her husband and three sons.
Born on September 14, 1939 to Harold Simpson and Edith Holmes Simpson, Patsy grew up in “The Flats” of Wilmington, graduating from Wilmington High School in the Class of ‘57. She worked at Kiddie World for most of her career, later working for Daybreak Nursing Home and Happy Harry’s as well.
Patsy married William Myers on March 19, 1977, and they built a wonderful life together. For over 50 years, Patsy and Bill began their days over morning coffee and conversation. They enjoyed spending time at their vacation home in Rehoboth Beach for more than 30 years, singing ballads during karaoke night and hosting friends and family. Patsy loved to cook. She also loved getting her hair done and going dancing. In the summers, she enjoyed tanning on the beach and indulging in ice cream.
Above all, Patsy was the love of Bill’s life—his rock, his angel, and his soulmate forever.
When they married, Patsy became “Mom” to his grown sons—Bill, Rob and Tom. Years later, she was the proud grandmother of eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren, whom she affectionately referred to as her “little dumplings.” Mommom Patsy loved being with her grandchildren—playing Uno and Yahtzee. She was known to send “just because” cards in the mail. Her great grandchildren loved her hugs and kisses.
Patsy lived a life deeply rooted in the Roman Catholic faith. As devoted members of St. Mary’s Church, Bill and Patsy were honored in 2018 by the Diocese of Wilmington for 50 years of service.
Patsy will be greatly missed by her husband William J. Myers Sr.; sons William J. Myers Jr., Robert L. Myers and Thomas E. Myers (Laurie); her grandchildren Christina Buchanan, Kerri Mangini (Michael), Matthew Myers, Jeffrey Myers (Kelly), Lauren Myers, Caitlin Myers, Jessica Myers and Justin Bliss; her great grandchildren Jackson and Max Buchanan, Grace and Emma Mangini, and Emory Robinson.
She was predeceased by her parents, her sisters Elaine and Doreen, her brothers Vernon and Ronnie, and her great granddaughter Riley Buchanan.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Patsy’s life on Thursday, July 27 from 6pm to 8pm at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Wilm., DE. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 2503 Centerville Rd, Wilm.,, DE on Friday, July 28 at 10:30am followed by interment in All Saints Cemetery.
