Obituary for Patricia A Murphy

Patricia Ann Murphy died peacefully at Seasons Hospice in Christiana, Delaware on May 18, 2019. Pat was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, and she grew up experiencing both the Irish and Italian sides of her close-knit family. She recalled many memories of lively multi-generational family dinners filled with laughter. Most of her earlier years were spent in New Jersey living in the vicinity of Ocean Township.

Pat graduated from Asbury Park High School, and later pursued vocational studies. She held corporate positions as an executive secretary and later an administrator for the leadership group within the Garden State Parkway. In 1997, she moved to Las Vegas with her brother and their parents to be closer to family out West. Pat particularly enjoyed the desert climate, the scenic mountain views, and building memories with her family and friends. She loved nature, and took the opportunity to travel with her children, exploring various National Parks and seaside areas in California.

Prior to her retirement, Pat was fortunate to find her most gratifying job working for Box Canyon Primary Care, assisting patients with referrals. Her role utilized her administrative abilities and a lifelong interest in medicine. In addition, it tapped into her deep caring and willingness to go above and beyond for people in need. Pat developed a community of close friends within the Box Canyon practice who she laughed with every day.

Pat was adored for her humor, personality and her utter devotion to her circle of family and friends. She was known for her warmth and kindness. She selflessly gave of herself to both her children and her parents. Patricia Murphy was loved deeply, and she will be missed by all who knew her.

Pat was preceded in death by Harry Larsen, Michael Gagliano, and her beloved grandparents Kieran and Nora Glynn. She is survived by her mother Eleanor Gagliano, her brother Mark Larsen, her son Bill Murphy and daughter Dawn Murphy Proctor. She will be missed by her son-in-law Gary Proctor (son Zachary), and the father of her children, William Murphy (Barbara). Pat was adored by her grandchildren Ariana and Colin Murphy and their mother Anona. She held a special relationship with her first cousin and friend Linda Misuraca (Sonny). She also had great fondness for her many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and the close friends of her children Dawn and Billy, who considered her to be like another mom.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass on Friday May 24th at 11:00a.m. at Immanuel on the Green Episcopal Church, 50 Market Street, New Castle, Delaware 19720. Reception to follow.

Pat cared very much about animals, and she regularly supported and visited her local S.P.C.A. She rescued many dogs and cats over the years to ensure they found a home. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to your local animal shelter.
