Obituary for Paul H. Deptula

Paul H. Deptula

Age 65, passed away on Saturday, May 19, 2019, at Christiana Care Wilmington Hospital.

Paul was born in Wilmington. He was a member of the Salesianum School Class of ’72, and earned a bachelor’s degree in Criminal justice from the University of Delaware in 1976. He then became a paralegal, and was employed at the Delaware Community Legal Aid Society for several years. He went onto work at Chase Manhattan Bank, where he became Vice President. Following Chase Manhattan, he was employed at Citi Bank, where he also became Vice President. He volunteered for many years with his son’s basketball team at Our Lady of Fatima School. He then volunteered in various activates at St. Elizabeth High School, where his son was also a student.

He was an avid reader. He especially enjoyed military books and J.R.R. Tolkien novels. He was a quiet, peaceful man with silent strength, and a man of deep Catholic faith.

In 1986, Paul married the love of his life, Connie Paslowski, and together they raised their son, Kristofer. They were not only married for 32 years but were also best buddies, soul mates, and went together, as Paul always said, “like peas and carrots”.

Paul was preceded in death by his father, Henry Deptula, his mother-in-law, Eleanor Paslowski, and father-in-law, Paul Paslowski, whom he considered one of his closest friends.

Paul is survived by his wife, Connie; his son, Kristofer and his girlfriend, Breanna Garcia; his mother, Theresa Deptula; and his brother, Michael Deptula. He is also survived by favorite cousins Joan, Mary Catherine, and James McInnis of Pennsylvania and Colorado, respectively, as well as several cousins from the Kolakowski, Deptula, and Licki families.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian burial at Holy Spirit R.C. Church, 12 Winder Road, New Castle, on Saturday, May 25, at 11:00 am. Burial will be private.
