Obituary

Phyllis passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 14.

She grew up in West Chester, PA and attended Henderson High School. After graduating high school in 1964 she went to Goldey-Beacom School of Business in Wilmington, DE. Following graduation, she went on to work for Denny-Rayburn in West Chester. In 1971 Phyllis and Thomas married and moved to Hedgeville in Wilmington DE., where they raised their daughter, Denise. They were parishioners at St. Hedwig R.C. Church, and in the Summer the family spent time at their summer home in West Bay Park on the Rehoboth Bay.

Phyllis was an active member of the Cranston Heights Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary for 14 years serving on the Board of Directors, several committees as well as an Alternate and Delegate for the State Conference. Phyllis loved working functions at the firehouse catering events doing her favorite job, working the dishwasher and jokingly calling it the Car Wash.

She retired from American General Life Company 2012 and retired to Rehoboth Beach and lived in Rehoboth Bay Community.

Phyllis adored the time she spent with her favorite person, her granddaughter, Marygrace. They both loved to go to Rehoboth Beah Boardwalk and people watch while drinking their Dunkin Donuts coffee.
She enjoyed meeting her friend, Rose Tarring once a month for lunch in Dover at her favorite restaurant, Olive Garden. Phyllis enjoyed spending time with her nephews, Richard and Andrew especially going to their baseball games from t-ball all the way through College. One of the highlights of her retirement at the beach was her “girls” weekends and the many visits from family and friends!

Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas S. Wojszewski; her brother, Robert Cooper; and her parents,Eugene and Grace Cooper.

She is survived by her daughter, Denise Bollinger (Jeff); her very special granddaughter, Marygrace Beideman; her step-grandson, Jonathan Hammond (Katie); step-granddaughter, Heather Bollinger Calvert; brothers, Richard Cooper (Donna) and Ronald Cooper (Tina); her very special nephews, Richard, Jr. and Andrew Cooper; Steve Hickman who she treated like a son he would keep her laughing all the time and he helped the family take such good care of her; as well as many other family members and friends.

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, a private graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 21

In lieu of flowers please make contributions to Alfred I duPont Hospital for Children, 1600 Rockland Road, Wilmington, DE 19803.
