Obituary for Roger Thomas "Tommy" McLane

Roger Thomas McLane “Tommy”
Age 78 of Elsmere
Passed away peacefully at home in his favorite chair on January 11, 2024.
Tommy retired after 42 years as a concrete truck driver. He was also a 63-year member of Elsmere Fire Company. He loved working on the fire trucks and was the chief engineer for many years. Tommy also trained drivers for many years, including the first female, Peggy Anderson, to drive the trucks and he was very proud of that fact.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elwood and Mary (Hyde) McLane, and his brothers, James “Mickey” McLane, Donald McLane, and Gerald “Jed” McLane.
Tommy will be dearly missed by his wife of 56 years, Barbara (Sharp) McLane; his children, Kathleen Madron and Michael McLane; and his favorite (and only) granddaughter, Kaitlyn Madron. He is also survived by his sisters, Mary Ann McLane, Beverly Barker (Hal), and Barbara Massey (Floyd)
Relatives and Friends are invited to attend the Celebration of Life service for Tommy, at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Elsmere, DE 19805, on Thursday, Jan 18 at 12noon. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10:00am-12:00noon. Interment will take place at Silverbrook Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family asks contributions to be made in Tommy’s name to Elsmere Fire Co.
