Obituary for Samuel Paul "Sammy" Davalos Jr.

Samuel Paul Davalos, Jr. age 84 passed away peacefully on March 28, 2019 at Heartland Hospice, with his family by his side.

Sam served in the U.S. Navy before devoting his life as a master upholsterer. His clientele were loyal customers for over 40 years. His work included the likes dignitaries as well as Santa Claus’s chair in Red Lion. He was most proud of the chair belonging to the Vice President, Joe Biden.

Sam enjoyed spending time with his family and watching his favorite shows, including Bonanza and Gun Smoke. He loved looking at recipes, always inspired to make the next yummy meal. Sam was any animals best friend. His last lucky felines enjoyed leftovers every day, just outside his back door.

Sammy, as he was loving referred to as, was always willing to lend a hand no matter the need. His children were the loves of his life. Saying good morning and goodnight were his favorite times of the day.

Sam is survived by his life partner of 35 years, Polly Gartside; his son, Joseph Davalos (Alicia); daughter, Rose Davalos (John Quisinberry); his step-children, Mike Pisano, Annette (Carl), and Benjamin Gartside; as well as many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a service on Thurs, April 4, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Gracelawn Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel, 2220 N Dupont Hwy, New Castle, DE 19720. A viewing will take place from 1-2 pm. Interment will follow the service.
