Obituary for Stephen Draper Wright

“Elmo”
Stephen D. Wright

Stephen Draper Wright passed away on January 8, 2019 at the age of 62 after a long and courageous fight with diabetes. Stephen was preceded in death by his father Robert G. Wright Sr. He is survived by his mother Nancy Draper Wright, his brothers Bob and Eddie (Joanne), and nephews Robert Wright III and Tyler Wright as well as many close cousins and friends. Especially his cat, Pooh.

Stephen grew up in Edgemoor Gardens and was a 1975 graduate of Mount Pleasant High School and was an active “Bucket Bro’s.” member of the Brandywine Hundred Fire Company for many years.

Stephen was most well known as the off centered, well humored owner of over 30 years of B&E City Subs on 10th street in Wilmington. He shared many laughs with his customer “Fan” base, and was famous for his signature “Big Mama” sandwich. But “Back in the Day” before moving to the “country” (Bear, DE) he was known to enjoy a “couple” afternoon “Buggers” and “Teeners” at Kelly’s Logan House, sometimes followed up by a late-night card game at the Stapler Club. He was a huge fan of Jeff Gordon NASCAR, as well as the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies.

Visitation will be held on Saturday January 19, 2019 from 9:00 - 11:00 at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home 1400 Kirkwood Highway Elsmere, DE. Service will follow at 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Faithful Friends or American Diabetes Association.
