Thomas V. Maney

Age 95 of Wilmington

Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on February 15, 2024.

Thomas was born in Philadelphia to the late Robert and Margaret (Divine) Maney. The family moved to the Henry Clay area in Delaware where he attended A.I. DuPont High School. Soon after graduation, Thomas entered the Navy and served for 4 years. During that time, he met his future bride, and they enjoyed a happy and fruitful marriage for 62 years. Tom worked in sales for the Briggs Company for over 30 years before his retirement. He was also an active member in St. Catherine of Sienna Church.

Tom’s passion was his family and friends. He was a devoted husband and father. Tom loved spending time around the kitchen table conversing with family members and anyone who may have stopped by for a visit. He always enjoyed sharing a beer and a good old Irish sing along.

In addition to his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by his daughter, Michelle (Maney) Holtz; his wife, Rita (Durnan) Maney; and his brothers, Robert Maney and Theodore Maney.

He will be greatly missed by his 9 sons, Thomas, Joseph (Luann), Edward (Roseline) Gregory, Hugh (Mila), Patrick (Linda), Christopher, Vincent, and Eric Maney; his daughter, Elizabeth Fontana (Nick); son-in-law, Steven Holtz; his 14 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.
